Elizabeth Betancourt is a scientist by training and policy expert in practice, having worked for more than 20 years in California resources policy with various governmental agencies and the private sector. She has a history of bringing together diverse and sometimes unconventional co-conspirators to move California resource policy towards a better reflection of the reality of our interconnected world, delivering the holistic perspective that climate adaptation demands. Elizabeth currently works for the California Department of Conservation, where she guides state woody biomass utilization policy and priorities as state chair of the Wood Utilization Work Group, part of California’s Wildfire and Forest Resilience Task Force.
