I am working with Dr. Kristin Trippe at the USDA-ARS to characterize biochar from different feedstocks and pyrolysis temperatures. We conduct physiochemical analyses on samples submitted by biochar producers and add this data to the Biochar Atlas database. The Biochar Atlas database informs decision support tools that help growers find biochar products with the physiochemical qualities that will provide the most benefit to their soil, crop and resource concerns.
